  5. What is it?
  6. -----------
  7. Renegade Support Network (RGSNet) is an open, easy-going message
  8. network devoted to the support of Renegade  Bulletin Board Systems.
  9. RGSNet has been in operation  since September, 1993.  Our current
  10. member list exceeds  1000 nodes. Although Renegade is the most popular
  11. software used in the network, any sysop is welcome  regardless of BBS
  12. software.

  55. The echos themselves generate approximately 300
  56. messages per day (total) about 2000-2500 per week.

  58. What are the rules?
  59. -------------------
  60. 1. You must use real names.  This can be done in  Renegade by toggling
  61.    the 'R'eal names flag to 'on'  in all the RGSNet message areas.
  62.  
  63.    Exceptions: RGS_DOORS - Handles ok, must sign with Real Name.
  64.                RGS_CHAT  - Handles ok.
  65.                RGS_BRE50 - Handles ok.
  66.                RGS_FE50  - Handles ok.
  67.                ALT.BBS.RENEGADE - Handles ok.

  69. 2. You must use a front-end mailer such as FrontDoor.  I  suggest
  70.    using FrontDoor v2.12 Noncommercial, but  other mailers such as
  71.    Portal of Power, D'Bridge, and  BinkleyTerm work fine.

  73. 3. All systems MUST be 300 baud or higher.   Sorry, no 110 baud here.

  78. What does it cost?
  79. ------------------
  80. The services we provide are free, however, the costs  of maintaining
  81. the system resources to provide quality  mail services and file
  82. distributions do cost us money.   Some hubs and hosts may require a
  83. small fee to offset their cost of calling long distance, others do
  84. not.   If your hub/host imposes some sort of Cost Reduction  Plan,
  85. then that would be considered your cost and  donation to the network.
  86. If your hub/host does not require a fee, or you would just like to
  87. help further  RGSNet's growth and development to help provide even
  88. better services, please send a small contribution  ($5.00 or more) to:

  101. How do I join?
  102. --------------
  103. All you need to do is contact your local RGSNet node  for the latest
  104. InfoPack and Application Kit.   Freq'ing "RGSNET" from any of the
  105. following sites  will also get you the latest RGSNet InfoPack:

  113. Run the file APPGEN.EXE to automatically create a short  text file
  114. with vital information needed to apply.  Once you have completed the
  115. application, netmail the file  created with your information to your
  116. state host  (preferably, if there is one), or the Temp Network
  117. Coordinator at 50:57/0, or upload it to 703-494-4470, The Rebel's Yell
  118. BBS.

  120. If you know your state host's address, please send the  application to
  121. that address, the turn-around time is  much quicker that way.
  122.  
  123. Once your application is reviewed, you will be sent a  node number and
  124. nodelist via netmail in ZIP form.   Or, if you cannot be reached via
  125. netmail, we will try  our best to send it via your BBS. Please allow
  126. 7-10  days for your application to be reviewed and a new  node number
  127. assigned (we receive them almost every day  and it is sometimes
  128. difficult to keep up), please  be patient.
